Michigan Football Coaches In Contact With Another Transfer

As the No. 1-ranked Michigan Wolverines prepare to face the No. 4-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, the transfer portal window remains open and prevalent among top programs and sleeping giants. For Jim Harbaugh and other Michigan football coaches, landing portal targets is essential if they want to stay competitive for Big Ten and national titles in years to come. One target the Wolverines have reportedly been in contact with is ex-West Virginia and UConn defensive back Mumu Bin-Wahad, who has been getting national attention since announcing his intention to transfer earlier this month.

Michigan football coaches contact another transfer portal target

When you think “college football,” chances are the UConn Huskies are not the first, tenth, or even 100th program that comes to mind. That said, Mumu Bin-Wahad saw some success with Connecticut, recording 38 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and more during his lone season with the Huskies last fall.

Now, after spending one season with West Virginia and one season with UConn, the former three-star recruit (class of 2022) is searching for a new home and has seemingly caught the eye of Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football coaching staff.

Per a recent announcement, Michigan football — among other top-ranked programs — has already been in contact with Mumu Bin-Wahad since the transfer portal window opened. Of course, with the loss of Mike Sainristil and Josh Wallace, Michigan could use more cornerback depth heading into the 2024 season, especially with pass-heavy teams like UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington joining the Big Ten next fall.

Obviously, Michigan football is primarily focused on winning a national title, which will start with a matchup against Alabama in the Rose Bowl; however, Mumu Bin-Wahad is another transfer target for fans to keep an eye on once the season wraps up.

It’s also worth noting that Michigan football landed its first transfer target of the 2024 cycle on Wednesday: ex-Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham.
