The Michigan Wolverines' offensive line has been among the best units of its kind in the country over the past five-plus years, culminating in a national championship win over Washington in early 2024.

The Wolverines continue to develop more professional caliber offensive linemen with each passing year, with head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome leading the way.

On Sunday, one of the Wolverines' most exciting recruits in their 2026 class, Bear McWhorter of Cartersville, Georgia, shared his thoughts on being recruited by the Wolverines and why he selected them over traditional SEC powers in his own backyard.

McWhorter told Ethan McDowell of On3.com that he was recruited by the Alabama Crimson Tide, where many people assumed he would end up.

McWhorter gave a three-word answer as to why he chose Michigan over the Tide.

"Michigan out-recruited them," McWhorter said.

Michigan's offensive line looked a bit ragged in its 2025 Spring Game at Michigan Stadium, perhaps the byproduct of a new offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey, new leading quarterbacks in Bryce Underwood and Jadyn Davis, and several other factors.

The Wolverines' offensive line is expected to break in at least three new starters this season, meaning a youth movement is currently underway in Ann Arbor.

McWhorter is currently a three-star prospect.

His physicality, size, and early commitment to the Wolverines' program could put him in line for instant playing time by the time he arrives on campus in fall 2026, if all goes according to plan.
