Michigan football secures transfer commitment from in-state rival

The transfer portal is a huge part of the game in today’s era of college football, and it has been helping out the Michigan football team in the past 24 hours. The Wolverines won the national championship last season, but they have lost a lot of talent from that team. They need to reload, and that’s what the transfer portal is for. Michigan State football transfer Jaden Mangham just committed to Michigan, and he is the third transfer portal commit for the Wolverines since Thursday night.

“Former Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham has committed to Michigan,” Matt Zenitz said in a tweet. “The former four-star recruit posted 52 tackles and four interceptions for Michigan State last season.”

This is a big get for the Michigan football secondary as they have lost a lot of good talent from last year to the NFL, the transfer portal and because of injury. The Wolverines still do have some key returners from last year, future first-round pick Will Johnson being a prime example, but getting an experienced guy like Jaden Mangham on the roster is huge.

Mangham had a big season for the Spartans last year as he finished with 53 total tackles and four interceptions. His high level of play earned him second team All-Big Ten honors.

It’s not often that you see players go from Michigan State to Michigan or vice versa, but it is becoming more popular in this era of college football. Jaden Mangham is now on the other side of the rivalry.

Michigan football has three commitments in the past 24 hours

The transfer portal has been kind to the Michigan football team this week. The Wolverines picked up a commitment from Albany transfer cornerback Amir Hall on Thursday night, and then they also landed Tennessee transfer safety Wes Walker. It has been a good stretch for the Wolverines.

This Michigan defense is going to be scary good once again next season. After these commitments, the secondary is looking great, and the Wolverines will have a top defensive line in the country as well. Their linebacker core is strong, and it is all-around an impressive unit. Defense will once again be the strength of this football team.
