Michigan Football Suffers Unfortunate Setback After Ohio State Win
USA TODAY Sports

The unranked Michigan Wolverines marched into Columbus and took down the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes with a 13-10 final score this past Saturday, marking the program's fourth consecutive victory in the historic college football rivalry.

This season-finale victory over the arch-rival Buckeyes was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing 2024 campaign for the reigning national champions. In his first season as full-time head coach, Sherrone Moore led the Wolverines to a 7-5 regular-season finish.

On Tuesday, the Michigan football program was dealt an unfortunate setback.

Starting wide receiver Tyler Morris is entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Morris was a key member the 2023 Wolverines team that went undefeated and won a College Football Playoff National Championship. He famously converted on a 38-yard receiving touchdown in Michigan's Rose Bowl victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

This season, Morris finished as the leader in the Wolverines' wide receiver room with 23 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns. He had just one catch for 14 yards in Saturday's win over the Buckeyes.

Though Michigan is far removed from College Football Playoff consideration, the program will be awarded a 2024 bowl game. It appears Morris will be unavailable for that postseason contest.

Michigan has three wide receivers committed to join as members of the Wolverines' 2025 recruiting class, including four-star WR Andrew Marsh.
