Michigan Football Veteran Makes Unexpected Statement on Key Wolverines Position Group

The Michigan Wolverines won eight games last season largely on the strength of their defense and running game while the quarterbacks and wide receivers had a tough time in several different contests.

Michigan, once known for one of the nation's most pinpoint passing games with top flight quarterbacks and wide receivers, didn't get much production from that aspect of the team in 2024 and enters 2025 with major question marks.

On Thursday, a veteran Wolverines receiver and national champion from the Wolverine State made a bold statement on the receivers that began drawing attention.

"#Michigan WR Semaj Morgan says he feels like this is the best wide receiver room has been since he's been here," reporter Brice Marich wrote on X.

The Wolverines brought in former Indiana Hooisers QB/WR Donaven McCulley to play outside receiver through the transfer portal, a position that appears to be suiting him well so far.

Michigan is expected to start Morgan in the slot along with Frederick Moore, a fast, shifty junior and former four-star recruit who began picking up his play toward the end of last season.

Another transfer, Anthony Simpson, has been hyped for his speed in recent days while newcomer Jamar Browder has been described as a great long ball receiver with an aggressive mindset.

Channing Goodwin and Peyton O'Leary have been singled out for their reliability while freshman Andrew Marsh has been tabbed as having star potential.

Sophomore Kendrick Bell, brother of former Wolverines star and Detroit Lions receiver Ronnie Bell, is another player who has flashed potential on the field and could challenge for starting reps.

Morgan's comments came during a time when an unsung Michigan defender was given a "fastest in the NFL draft" distinction from an NFL draft scout. A Wolverines coach shared a practice update on one of the 2024 team's biggest late season stars.

Morgan's confidence in the receivers room is likely to be music to the ears of Wolverines fans everywhere. With improved depth in the QB room running parallel to the receivers, coach Sherrone Moore's team could be back in business heading into 2025-26.
