Michigan lands 2027 four-star quarterback over Penn State, Georgia

The Michigan Wolverines have landed a commitment from one of the top 2027 quarterbacks in the country.

Peter Bourque, a four-star quarterback from Hingham, Massachusetts, committed to Michigan over Penn State and Georgia.

The Wolverines' brand spoke for itself on the recruiting trail with Bourque.

“The program history of Michigan is unlike many, and the school is top-tier,” he told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals regarding his commitment. “I’m also a huge fan of the coaching staff there. I’ve been fortunate enough to form a great relationship with them.”

Head coach Sherrone Moore gets all the credit and headlines, but offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey led the way for the Wolverines in this one. Lindsey is new in his position in Ann Arbor, but he came from North Carolina, where he played a role in developing QB Drake Maye into a first-round draft pick.

Maye went No. 3 to the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft and Lindsey's involvement with him was a selling point for Bourque.

“I’m very excited about Michigan,” Bourque said. “They have done a great job developing quarterbacks like J.J. McCarthy. Coach Lindsey has been great throughout this entire process. His development of Drake Maye is something that was very enticing to me. Michigan has a long tradition in winning including national championships. To play at a program with expectations like that is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

This is a big recruiting win for Michigan. According to the 247Sports Composite, Bourque is the No. 6 quarterback in the 2027 class. He's Michigan and Moore's third 2027 commitment.
