With Jake Moody now done in Ann Arbor and off to San Francisco, and Brad Robbins in Cincinnati, Michigan does have openings at kicker and punter. There are some capable guys on the roster, but no one with any real experience.

Michigan recently landed Louisville transfer kicker James Turner and has now added Mississippi State kicker/punter Hudson Hollenbeck to the mix as well.

Hollenbeck just arrived in Starkville last year as a true freshman and did not see any action, so the first time he puts toe to leather in a winged helmet will be the first time he does so at the collegiate level period. At 6-3, 195 pounds, Hollenbeck looks the part and was also considered one of the best kicking prospects in the nation coming out of high school. Per Kohl’s Kicking, Hollenbeck was viewed as a 4.5-star kicker and a 5-star punter. He was rated as the No. 7 overall punter in the class of 2022.

Michigan now appears to have a pretty substantial battle on its hands when it comes to kickoff, field goal and punting duties. It looked like veteran Tommy Doman was next up by default, but with Turner and Hollenbeck now in the mix, along with incoming freshman Adam Samaha also expected to compete for playing time, it's going to be interesting to see who ends up booting it for the Wolverines this fall.
