Michigan’s top priority right now is to find a new head coach, but in the meantime the Wolverines need to refocus some of their efforts on their Class of 2026 signees. On Friday, a second player announced his intent to withdraw his National Letter of Intent, as he has decided to find a new home.
Offensive lineman Bear McWhorter had been committed to the Wolverines for more than nine months, but it took him less than two days to walk away from the program after the Sherrone Moore ordeal became public.
He joins tight end Matt Ludwig, who was the first to have a change of heart. A little more than a week ago, Michigan celebrated his signing, but now he will be playing his college football elsewhere.
Michigan signed a top ten class nationally, so losing two players shouldn’t be considered significant, but things like this have the tendency to snowball. It is worth keep an eye on, as it is safe to assume that many of the other signees are currently reflecting on their future.
And it is even safer to assume that other colleges are trying to persuade them that their future would be better elsewhere.
