Michigan has a potential-packed quarterback on its roster in Bryce Underwood, but that won't stop Sherrone Moore and his staff from adding depth.
Underwood, the No. 1 recruit from the 2025 class, has already earned a ton of praise this offseason despite not logging a single snap for the Wolverines. There are plenty of people who believe he could become the next big thing at the collegiate level.
"Bryce Underwood, from practice one to practice 15, and what he brings to the table in terms of physical skills, is like nothing anybody’s ever seen here before," Michigan reporter Chris Balas said. "We’ve seen Drew Henson here as a true freshman, Chad Henne started here as a true freshman. People have been here for 35, 40 years, say he is by far the best freshman quarterback, true freshman that they’ve seen here."
While the coaches at Michigan have confidence in Underwood, it appears they're looking to bolster their quarterback room.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Michigan is hosting East Carolina transfer Jake Garcia on a visit this week.
Garcia played at Miami from 2021-2022, completing 61.2 percent of his passes for 950 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. In 2024, he appeared in six games for East Carolina. He had 1,426 passing yards, eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Pete Nakos of On3 expects Garcia to transfer to Michigan. He logged his prediction on Friday morning.
If Garcia transfers to Michigan, that'd mark the fourth stop of his college career. Although he wouldn't be expected to play this season, he'd add experience to Moore's quarterback room.
Michigan will begin the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against New Mexico.
