Michigan RB Donovan Edwards had a legendary first quarter in CFP national championship

Michigan running back Donovan Edwards had the type of first quarter in the College Football national championship game that many only dream of.

Most would be happy to put up Edwards' first-quarter numbers through a full game. At the end of 15 minutes, Edwards already had 87 yards and two touchdowns under his belt. He touched the football twice and took it to the house twice.

He followed up his 41-yard opening drive touchdown scamper with a 46-yarder on Michigan's second offensive possession.

Washington's defense clearly had no answers, and win, lose, or draw against Washington, it was the type of performance that will go down in Michigan football history.

Heck, it will go down in College Football Playoff history as one of the most impactful early-game performances of all time.
