Just a few days after upsetting Ohio State in one of the wildest games in recent college football memory, Michigan learned that one of its starting wide receivers is leaving Ann Arbor.
Junior wideout Tyler Morris is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. During last season's run to the national championship game, Morris had 13 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown. The Wolverines' passing game has taken a major hit this fall, but Morris has slightly improved his numbers. He finished the 2024 regular season with 23 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns. This past Saturday, he recorded just one reception for 14 yards against Ohio State.
It's too early to tell where Morris will end up if he leaves Michigan this offseason. That being said, he should have suitors.
The highlight of Morris' career in Ann Arbor might just be his Rose Bowl performance against Alabama. He hauled in two passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. His score gave Michigan a 13-7 lead in the second quarter.
Despite losing Morris to the transfer portal, Michigan should be just fine. The program is expected to add a plethora of new pass catchers to its roster via its 2025 recruiting class.
Michigan currently has commitments from four-star tight end Andrew Olesh and four-star wide receiver Andrew Marsh. The 2025 recruiting class for the Wolverines also features a pair of three-star wideouts in Jamar Browder and Jacob Washington.
Suffice to say, the receiving corps for Michigan won't lack depth next fall.
