Michigan State linebacker Jacoby Windmon signs with Pittsburgh Steelers as undrafted free agent
Nick King/Lansing State Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK

Former Michigan State linebacker Jacoby Windmon will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. He played five years of college football, including the past two with the Spartans, and is now ready to enter the next chapter of his career.

Windmon dazzled in his first season with the Spartans to lead the FBS with six forced fumbles. He also had 49 tackles, including a team-high 10.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, and 17 QB pressures.

Unfortunately, he played only three games this past season before suffering a pectoral muscle injury that sidelined him the remainder of the year. His recovery will be something to keep an eye on as he enters his first season in the pros.

Prior to his time in East Lansing, Windmon spent the first three years of his college career at UNLV. He played 131 snaps as a true freshman before going on to become a full-time starter on the defensive line over the next two seasons. He had his best season yet in 2021 to finish 13th in the FBS with 119 tackles along with 6.5 sacks.

Jacoby Windmon is not the only rookie linebacker that the Steelers added. They also drafted former NC State star Payton Wilson and signed former Charlotte linebacker Julius Welschof as an undrafted free agent alongside Windmon.
