Michigan State quarterback Katin Houser is making a difference through NIL.

Houser, a redshirt freshman, announced last Wednesday that he will give a percentage of his name, image and likeness earnings to the Spartan Strong Foundation following the tragic events that happened on Michigan State’s campus in February, when an armed shooter killed three students and left five others wounded.

The fund set up by Houser will support affected students, staff members, as well as first responders.

Houser made the announcement during an appearance on “The SD4L Show” while wearing a Spartan Strong shirt.

“During tragic events, Spartans rally to ensure our campus and community have the resources necessary to provide for those in need,” Spartan Strong stated on its website.

“While MSU is covering hospital bills for the injured students, the Spartan Strong Fund has been created to provide support for the evolving needs of the individuals most critically impacted. The fund will also be used for student and staff counseling, as well as recognition for those involved with the crisis, such as first responders. Each situation and need is unique and evolving, but the university is committed to working with those most critically impacted to identify meaningful ways to provide support.”

Houser, a four-star prospect who played high school football at St. John Bosco, only played six offensive snaps this past season. During a Week 2 win over Akron, Houser completed 1-of-2 passes for 2 yards and had 13 yards rushing on the ground, which came in the fourth quarter.

Since Houser only played in a handful of snaps, he was able to preserve his redshirt year.
