Michigan State's Maliq Carr, Katin Houser earn Big Ten 'Player of the Week' honors
USA TODAY Sports

Two Michigan State players were recognized by the Big Ten Conference for their efforts in the Spartans' 24-21 victory over Indiana last Saturday.

MSU tight end Maliq Carr was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week after recording nine receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the closing minutes against the Hoosiers. Carr set career-highs in all three of those categories on Saturday.

Carr was the favorite target of redshirt freshman quarterback Katin Houser, who also was recognized by the Big Ten after a career day. Houser threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns while completing 26-of-41 pass attempts against Indiana. Houser, too, set career highs in completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns. For is efforts, he was recognized as the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week.

We'd be remiss if we neglected to mention the play of senior wide receiver Montorie Foster, who was another favorite target of Houser's on Saturday. Foster record seven catches for 93 yards and added a touchdown of his own.

Michigan State concludes its regular season on Friday, when they battle Penn State for the Land-Grant Trophy at Ford Field in Detroit.
