The Michigan Wolverines just sent both Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant off to the NFL as first round draft picks. Mazi Smith and Kris Jenkins were both Top 50 picks in the 2023 and 2024 NFL Drafts. Michigan has obviously created a defensive line development machine of a program over the last few seasons and it's paying off on the recruiting trail.

As official visit season is already in full swing, Michigan finds themselves in prime position to land one of the best defensive line recruits in the country and it's clearly because of how well they've proven they develop the position.

Titan Davis, Four Star DL Recruit

Titan Davis is a Top 100 overall recruit from the state of Missouri. He's been trending towards Michigan and a handful of other top programs for months now, but as of this week he's made it official. Davis is down to just two schools: Alabama and Michigan.

When asked about his reasoning behind that decision his answer was rather unsurprising: "[Alabama and Michigan] are two great defensive programs that have great success with defensive linemen."

Alabama has an even longer, more proven track record of sending top defensive line talents to the NFL (13 DL prospects drafted in the last 10 years), but Michigan's recent surge and dominance on the field has been too much to ignore for talents like Titan Davis.

Now that Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham are both gone, Michigan is going to need someone to step up in the defensive trenches. This year that player should certainly be Rayshaun Benny given what he's flashed with top tier potential already. However, Benny is also gone following this upcoming season. Sherrone Moore and his staff should be able to pitch early playing opportunity (with their usual emphasis on earning it) given the many talents likely departing after this year.

Yes, there are a couple young high upside freshman this year like Travis Moten and Nate Marshall, on the team already too, but Titan Davis could be the face of the defense early on. Davis has been highly productive, boasts an elite motor for his size at nearly 270 pounds already, and could provide inside-outside flexibility as a do-it-all defensive lineman.

Hopefully Michigan seals the deal when they host him June 20th. Given that he's already down to his final two schools with one visit remaining, Michigan fans won't likely have to wait too long to find out if they have their next game-changing defensive lineman.
