Can either team win an SEC game?
Mississippi State hasn’t won a conference game since mid-October 2023, losing 16 straight since then. However, unlike last year, it’s been crazy-competitive this season, coming painfully close in one-score losses to Tennessee, Florida, and Texas.
With Georgia, at Missouri, and Ole Miss up next, lose this, and it’ll be tough to break this horrible run. That last win over an SEC team came against …
Arkansas.
The Hogs might be 2-6, but four of them were by one score and could’ve all easily gone the other way. Interim head man Bobby Petrino has the offense going, but last week’s 33-24 loss to Auburn hurt.
Lose here, and that’s the season - the Hogs would be ensured of a losing campaign.

If you ever wanted to see what the Mississippi State running game could do, this should be your chance.
Everyone who has even the slightest interest in getting the ground game going can rip through the Razorback D that allowed over 200 yards in each of its last five games. There's a little bit of a pass rush, but not enough of one to get into a twist over.
The Bulldogs are coming off a terrific offensive performance against Texas, throwing for 382 yards and five touchdowns against the fantastic Longhorn D. The ground attack, though, hasn't shown up in weeks. That's about to change.
Combine what should be a balanced attack with the turnovers sure to come from the Bulldog defense - it should be good for at least two takeaways in this - and ...
Mississippi State has a great offense that will blow past 400 yards, but Arkansas does this better.
It hasn't been able to translate the production into wins, but quarterback Taylen Green took things up a few notches before dealing with the Auburn defense last week. The MSU defense hasn't been awful - again, it will come up with turnovers - but it gets gassed.
Arkansas works with plenty of pace, but Mississippi State's warp-speed attack is a killer for its own D as games go on. As long as the Hogs can keep this within range, it should be able to take over in the fourth quarter.
There might be other big games going on, and this is between two SEC-winless teams, but you won't have more fun watching any other game this weekend.
You like offense, you like mood swings, you like big plays - these two will trade major punches from jump. Be made if there are close to 900 yards of combined offense and a flirtation with 80 points.
Arkansas will break through by finally getting a win in a close game.
