Moore Has Strong Words About Buckeyes Title

It’s not a college football season until the trash talk starts between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Things kicked off Thursday at Big Ten Media Day.

It didn’t take long for Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore to throw shade at their biggest rival. The Buckeyes may have won the College Football Playoff, taking the crown from the Wolverines, but Moore wasn’t impressed.

He claimed Ohio State’s title run didn’t count as a “real win” because they didn’t beat Michigan to get there.

The Wolverines beat the Buckeyes 13-10 in Columbus to close the regular season. Moore made his point clear:

"I'll congratulate them on the win, but it's not a real win if y'all ain't beat us."

Ohio State entered the College Football Playoff as the No. 8 seed but won four straight games to claim their first national title in a decade. The year prior, Michigan won the championship under the old four-team format.

Moore doubled down on his stance while offering backhanded congratulations.

"If the expansion didn't happen, they wouldn't have won," he said. "We pretty much helped build them back up after the loss."

Michigan leads the all-time series 62-51-6. The Wolverines have won four straight against the Buckeyes dating back to 2021, ending a run of eight consecutive wins by Ohio State from 2012 to 2019. Michigan has claimed 12 national titles in its history, while Ohio State now has eight.

The two teams are set to meet again in 2025, this time in Ann Arbor. The game is scheduled for November 29.
