National media outlet gives Tennessee Vols an offseason win over Vanderbilt that won't sit well with Commodores QB Diego Pavia

Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia got Tennessee Vols fans riled up earlier this summer when he suggested that Vandy is going to run the state of Tennessee after the 2025 season.

“Vanderbilt is gonna run Tennessee after this year,” said Pavia during an appearance on Bussin with the Boys in June. “This is gonna be the new staple of college football. It’s going to happen here at Vanderbilt.”

With that comment in mind, it's probably safe to say that Pavia won't love the latest take from CBS Sports.

On Monday, CBS Sports picked the best college football team in each state. And it's no surprise that they went with the Vols as the best team in Tennessee.

From CBS Sports: Memphis and Vanderbilt are providing good competition, but Tennessee is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance and is on solid footing under fifth-year coach Josh Heupel. The Commodores and Tigers each have a shot at the 2025 state title, but they'll need the Vols to have a down season, which is certainly possible.

Pavia said during an episode of Netflix's Any Given Saturday that Vanderbilt can beat Tennessee on "any given Saturday", so I'm sure he'll strongly disagree with this take from CBS Sports.

The Vols, however, have clearly been the best team in Tennessee over the last several years.

Tennessee, in fact, has won six games in a row against Vanderbilt.

Pavia and the Commodores will get another shot at the Vols on November 29 when Vandy visits Knoxville.
