The Tennessee Vols will open the 2025 college football season on August 30 against the Syracuse Orange in Atlanta.
Syracuse linebacker Fatim Diggs already added some spice to the matchup by providing Tennessee with some bulletin board material earlier this month.
‘It’ll be great for us to go out there and show them what we do in the ACC and give them a tough game,” said Diggs. “No matter what, we want to stay where our feet are right now. But when that game comes, we’ll show people how we really get down. And that conference stuff, like, it matters, but it really don’t matter.”
CBS Sports does not believe that Syracuse will deliver on Diggs' promise of showing people "how we really get down".
The national sports media outlet predicted on Monday that Tennessee will get the win against Syracuse in Week 1.
From CBS Sports: Fran Brown has a litany of material he can paste inside the locker room at Mercedes-Benz Stadium during opening weekend and here's more fodder to motivate his Orange: Following last year's 10-win triumph during Brown's first season, Syracuse looks a good bit different roster-wise this fall -- much like the other sideline against the Vols in this one. Syracuse will get back to the postseason in 2025, but the Orange aren't winning this one.
Syracuse is no pushover -- the Orange are a well-coached team under Fran Brown.
Tennessee, however, is the more talented team. This is a game the Vols should absolutely win, as long as the Volunteers don't come out and lay an egg.
