NC State QB Devin Leary suffers broken fibula, will miss up to eight weeks

NC State quarterback Devin Leary is expected to miss four to eight weeks after undergoing surgery for a broken fibula, the school announced Sunday.

Leary was injured in a 31-20 win over Duke on Saturday at the end of a quarterback run. As he was tumbling toward the ground, Duke safety Lummie Young hit him in the head. Leary's ankle twisted under him, and he was carted off the field with an air cast on his left leg.

The sophomore tweeted early Sunday morning thanking everyone for their support after his injury.

Leary won all three of his starts this season and is a big reason why the Wolfpack are 4-1 on the season. He's thrown for 879 yards and eight touchdowns against two interceptions this season.

Bailey Hockman is expected to take over as NC State's starting quarterback.
