Can NC State do it again?

It might be out of the ACC title hunt with three losses, but it already has wins over Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and, even though it was technically a non-conference game, Virginia.

It’s been a strange year, but with a win, it’ll be bowl eligible, with two more shots to get there with Florida State and North Carolina to close. Win, and that’s it for Miami’s College Football Playoff dreams.

The Hurricanes haven’t been a air-tight as they should be, and they’re effectively out of the ACC title hunt, but if they win this and beat Virginia Tech and Pitt, at 10-2 with wins over USF and Notre Dame, they’ll likely be in the CFP.

Why NC State Will Win

NC State has so many issues and makes so many mistakes, so how did it roar past Georgia Tech and take out Virginia and Wake Forest? There’s no rhyme or reason to it, but when the Wolfpack start bombing away, they generally have a shot.

The defense will get torched by the Hurricanes, so it’s up to CJ Bailey to come up with a repeat of the Georgia Tech game and go out of his mind.

He hit just about everything, the chains kept moving, and in the end, the Wolfpack set a pace that the Yellow Jackets couldn’t match.

That’s a long-winded way of saying NC State has to walk into Hard Rock ready to crank up over 400 yards of total offense and at least 35 points, and …

Why Miami Will Win

NC State doesn’t take the ball away.

Miami is just so (bleep)ing frustrating, because it’s been far more talented than everyone on its schedule (other than Notre Dame), it’s the best team in the ACC by a mile, and it can’t seem to handle even the slightest bit of adversity.

NC State won’t create that drama.

Carson Beck had his interception-fest in the loss to Louisville, threw two picks in the loss to SMU, and … NC State doesn’t force enough takeaways, so …

NC State vs Miami Prediction, Betting Lines

The Wolfpack defense doesn’t come up with third-down stops, the pass defense is the second-worst in America ahead of only SMU, and Beck is about to have a very, very big day.

Miami will kick it into overdrive at home. The defense will come out roaring, Beck and the offense will have this well in control, and the win will make the gaffes to SMU and Louisville all the more maddening.

But it’ll be a performance that makes everyone realize that the Canes are two more wins away from being in the College Football Playoff - if they don’t biff against Pitt.
