Ne-Yo Is Getting Ripped For Big 12 Championship Halftime Show

Not all halftime shows are winners. Unfortunately for Ne-Yo, his performance for the Big 12 Championship Game didn't exactly win over the crowd.

Ne-Yo, 45, is undoubtedly a legend when it comes to R&B music. He has produced so many hit songs over the year, like "Closer" and "Miss Independent." That being said, his music doesn't exactly go hand in hand with a conference title game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Fans watching ABC's coverage of the Big 12 Championship didn't hesitate with their assessment of Ne-Yo. They felt like his halftime show was out of place.

"Ne-Yo performing in a half empty Jerry’s World is so ESPN Bowl Season Trying Too Hard it hurts," one person said.

"Hold up… why they got Ne-Yo doing the halftime show for the Big 12 game?! Lol The majority of these kids were waaaay too young when most of these bangers were out," another person wrote.

"Man get Ne-Yo off the field," a third person tweeted.

"I'd rather fight trench warfare than watch this Ne-Yo halftime show," a fourth person joked.

Today's show doesn't change the fact that Ne-Yo is a quality entertainer, but we totally get why people were heated about him being on stage.

As for the product on the field, Arizona State went into halftime with a 24-10 lead over Iowa State.

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo had 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first half for the Sun Devils. He's trying to carry his team to the College Football Playoff.

If Iowa State is going to pull off a comeback, it'll need to slow down Skattebo. Who knows? Maybe Ne-Yo's halftime show motivated the Cyclones.
