Nebraska football has offered a new 2025 quarterback, plus a key player might not return for the 2024 season.

The quarterback board has shifted for Nebraska football recently in the 2025 class. Ever since the commitment of Dylan Raiola, it seems like the Huskers have lost some ground with Alex Manske.

Manske is one of the top quarterbacks in the region. The passer is out of Iowa and has visited Nebraska football a bunch since Matt Rhule was hired. However, Manske hasn’t visited yet this month and after another 2025 quarterback offer, Nebraska offered 2025 QB Dillon Duff on Tuesday.

Duff is 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and out of St. Louis, Missouri. He’s a three-star quarterback according to 247 Sports and ranked 54th in the class at the position. He hasn’t visited yet or anything but Matt Rhule, Glenn Thomas, Marcus Satterfield, and nearly the entire offensive staff were there to extend the scholarship.

Iowa State has started trending as the favorite for Manske, which is probably another reason why the Huskers are expanding the board. They need to land a quarterback in this class and in that sense, this is a smart move.

Ethan Piper is not on the Nebraska roster

The Cornshukers updated their football roster on Tuesday and one name that wasn’t there is former starting offensive guard Ethan Piper.

Piper suffered a season-ending injury last season and hasn’t publicly committed to play. According to Amie Just, he’s still weighing his options.

But it makes more sense now that Nebraska added former Florida starting guard Micah Mazzccua via the transfer portal. He started 12 games last season for the Gators. His addition wasn’t expected and it seemed curious since all five starters were supposed to be back.

Offensive line depth is key so if Piper returns, there will be room for him obviously, but in light of Mazzccua being added, Ethan might have played his final game as a Cornhusker.
