The Alabama Crimson Tide found their quarterback from the 2026 class in Jett Thomalla on June 17.
The recent Alabama commit is showing what he can do in a big way very soon after pledging to head coach Kalen DeBoer. On3 Sports highlighted Thomalla as one of the top performers at the Elite 11 Finals on Thursday.
On3 Sports ranked Thomalla 10th at the competition, which took place in Los Angeles, California.
Thomalla is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and attends Millard South.
DeBoer finished his first season in Tuscaloosa at 9-4, taking Alabama to the ReliaQuest Bowl. The Crimson Tide ended the year with a 19-13 loss to the Michigan Wolverines.
Thomalla is a four-star recruit and the No. 13 quarterback in the On3 Industry Rankings. He was committed to the Iowa State Cyclones since April, but flipped to Alabama on Tuesday.
He joins a recruiting class for Alabama that features five-star corner Jorden Edmonds, four-star corner Zyan Gibson, four-star edge rusher Jamarion Matthews, four-star inside offensive lineman Chris Booker, four-star inside offensive lineman Samuelu Utu and four-star defensive lineman Kamhariyan Johnson.
Before Thomalla announced his commitment, Utu was the latest Alabama pledge. DeBoer used his West Coast influence to land the prospect from Orange, California.
DeBoer was the head coach for the Washington Huskies from 2022-23 before replacing Nick Saban. Another recent recruiting update for Alabama involves four-star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt. The recruit plans to announce his commitment on June 28.
The second year of the DeBoer era at Alabama opens with the Florida State Seminoles on August 30.
