While it’s no secret that Travis Hunter is one of the best prospects in college football history, Colorado’s Heisman winner is already generating buzz at the next level.
Recently, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg released an article with multiple anonymous coaches raving about the two-way star.
“Travis is like the rubber-band man,” said one assistant coach. “He understands football, knows routes off splits, and ball skills are out of this world. His ball skills are the best I’ve ever seen. His endurance is what’s really crazy.”
Another Big 12 football coach chimed in on his workload for the Jaguars, saying, “There’ll be a fight to see who gets to use him.”
While several NFL experts have gone back and forth about Hunter’s upside at the next level, he clearly showcased an elite ability at Colorado that had not been seen since his head coach, Deion Sanders, last stepped on the football field.
Later in the article, Pamela Maldonado, a sports betting analyst at ESPN, dubbed Hunter her favorite pick in the entire draft, saying, “Wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter to the Jaguars (No. 2). This trade up was bold and exactly what this team needed. Hunter is a unicorn with his ability to be a shutdown corner and playmaker. His infectious energy could reinvigorate Jacksonville’s entire locker room.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars finished 4-13 last year, good for a third-place finish in the AFC South. With Hunter on the sidelines, the team should have a decent shot at improving very soon.
