The quarterback situation for the New Orleans Saints is one of the most intriguing parts of this offseason in the entire NFL. The 2025 NFL Draft may provide them with a young option for Kellen Moore's offense.

New Orleans holds a top ten pick in round one, but they may not take a QB with that selection. Instead, they could attack that need on day two - or even with a trade up back into the back half of the first round.

The Saints hold three picks between rounds two and three currently. What do some NFL insiders think of New Orleans' interest in Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders?

ESPN insiders discuss Shedeur Sanders & Saints

According to Field Yates and Matt Miller, they're not buying the concept of the Saints drafting Shedeur Sanders. They believe that New Orleans will go a different route at the quarterback position, based on what they currently know.

Yates: Selling. There's little chance Derek Carr's shoulder injury was a surprise to the Saints, so I don't expect it to dramatically change their stance at No. 9. Ultimately, for New Orleans to take a quarterback that high, the decision-makers have to be in love with that prospect. I have not gotten the sense that the Saints are there with Sanders. But it's important to remember very few parties are motivated to reveal their intentions before the draft, which makes it difficult to know what's true. It's smokescreen season. I'll sell this ... for now.

Miller: Selling. The Saints have clear deficiencies all over their roster, which is bloated with bad contracts. Reaching for a passer at No. 9 won't change their outlook. This is the same front office that drafted Spencer Rattler in the fifth round last year, and a source told me that they still like his ability and upside a lot. New coach Kellen Moore could change that dynamic, but this isn't a team that's a quarterback away, from a team-building standpoint.

Clearly, there is a bit of disbelief in the Saints' potential interest in the son of NFL legend, Deion Sanders. Kellen Moore did not see Sanders' Pro Day workout live, but the Saints did have a couple of assistant coaches in attendance.

New Orleans may be keeping their hopes to draft Sanders close to the chest. Only time will tell. Sanders has the potential to slide down the board a bit, if New Orleans does not take him at the ninth overall selection.

The Giants have also shown interest in Sanders and own the third overall pick.

Other QB options for New Orleans

As far as other rookie QB options, the Saints have done work on Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, and Tyler Shough. All three of those prospects are expected to be taken on the first two days of the draft.
