NFL Scouting Combine decision on Deion Sanders' son predicts major 2025 NFL Draft movement

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine dropped its annual list of participants on Thursday, and of course, there were a few notable exclusions. With so much attention given to the Colorado Buffaloes under head coach Deion Sanders and his sons Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, we naturally looked to see how many Colorado stars would attend.

While Shedeur Sanders will attend alongside teammates Jimmy Horn Jr., LahJohntay Wester, and Travis Hunter, his brother won't be there. Shilo Sanders has been viewed as a fringe NFL prospect until now, but not going to the scouting combine is essentially an example of the league saying "thanks, but no thanks."

Although he is Deion Sanders' son, safety Shilo Sanders hasn't received the same optimistic NFL outlook as his brother, Shedeur. Shilo is a physical, hard-hitting defender who excels in the run game but has some athletic limitations in coverage. He has also made mental errors, such as incurring penalties and taking poor pursuit angles.

Concerns about Sanders arise from his career statistics, which include a 16% missed tackle rate and 15 penalties. While the second half of his senior season showed some improvement compared to his earlier performances at South Carolina, Jackson State, and now Colorado, it's hard to overlook the bevy of limitations.

A lack of high-end athleticism, discipline, and versatility are atop the concerns from decision-makers. It's hard to feel like you're signing up for a knucklehead who can't make splash plays to overcome mistakes.

In his career, Shilo Sanders totaled 191 tackles, six interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. He allowed 58 receptions on 89 targets for 589 yards and three touchdowns, per PFF.

Without an invite to workout at the combine, Sanders must overcome yet another obstacle, including having played six years of college football. If he ever does get the chance, he'll have to prove that he offers value on special teams and as a backup player.
