The Texas Longhorns are chasing their third five-star commitment from the 2026 class.
So far, Texas has commitments from five-star prospects Dia Bell and Richard Wesley, and the Longhorns are hoping to change that.
Five-star athlete Lamar Brown announced Texas, the Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers and Miami Hurricanes as finalists and revealed he will commit on July 10.
Brown is a native of Erwinville, Louisiana and attends University Lab. He comes in at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds. The athlete has experience playing on the offensive and defensive line for his high school team.
The Florida State Seminoles were one of Brown's finalists in March, but the Longhorns replaced them.
Brown is the No. 7 national prospect, No. 1 athlete and No. 1 recruit from Louisiana in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2026 class.
The Tigers are the favorite based on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. LSU has an 86.5% chance to land Brown, followed by Texas A&M (11.1%), Texas (<1%) and Miami (<1%)
The Longhorns spent time with the Louisiana native in an official visit on June 6.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian recently sat down with Greg McElroy to talk about the offseason. He even revealed when he knew things had turned around for the Longhorns.
Sarkisian referenced the 2022 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, citing that his players were unhappy with how closely the game was played. He also discussed how internal growth and recruiting were major issues for the program when he arrived in 2021.
Texas opens the 2025 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30. Kickoff is at Noon ET on Fox.
