Friday at midnight marked the official opening of the NCAA transfer portal. Following a year in which over 4,000 players entered their names in the transfer portal, On3 has confirmed that over 2,000 players have done so in under 12 hours.
One of the hottest names on the market is Louisville Cardinals running back Isaac Brown. The speedy running back out of Miami, Florida, entered with a do-not-contact tag, and it didn't take long for a program to emerge as the favorite to land him.
247Sports released what is known as a "staff prediction," which, according to their site, is based on intel that the entire team has received.
That prediction has Brown, who ranks as the No. 16 player and No. 1 running back. slated to end up in the backfield with the Texas Longhorns and quarterback Arch Manning. The Longhorns lost both the team's leading rusher, Tre Wisner, and former five-star recruit CJ Baxter to the portal in moves that seemed to have resulted from the program showing them the door.
In his two seasons with the Cardinals, Brown has racked up 266 carries for 2,057 yards and 18 touchdowns on 7.7 yards per carry. He can also be effective in the passing game, logging 43 catches for 200 yards and a score.
Brown isn't the only marquee player Texas has been linked to, as the Longhorns are also heavily connected to the No. 1 wide receiver in the portal, former Auburn Tigers pass-catcher Cam Coleman. Clearly, Steve Sarkisian wants more weapons around Manning as the Longhorns look to return to the College Football Playoff after missing it this season.
