No. 4 QB Recruit Shares Strong Opinion of Texas, Steve Sarkisian

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns didn't finish the 2025 season in a way many expected. The Longhorns were well short of winning a national championship, going 10-3 and defeating the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl.

The offseason now provides Sarkisian with the opportunity to hit the recruiting trail. While Texas hasn't landed any commitments in the 2028 cycle, the program is pushing for several players.

Quarterback Neimann Lawrence, out of Miami, Florida, has become a top priority. He's a four-star recruit, the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 29 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.

He earned first-team honors as a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American after throwing for 2,603 yards and 39 touchdowns at Northwestern High School.

He's already shown interest in the Longhorns, making it to Austin for two unofficial visits. In an article from Rivals' Chad Simmons, Lawrence shared his early opinion of Texas and Sarkisian.

"I have a great connection with the coaches at Texas,” Lawrence said. “I have been there two times and I cannot wait to go back. They have a winning tradition. I like their history too. They develop their quarterbacks. Texas is a quarterback pipeline. I love Coach Sark and Coach [AJ] Milwee and the path they are going down.”

While the praise is a good sign, the Longhorns are battling a handful of powerhouses for Lawrence's commitment. He also holds offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Miami Hurricanes and Georgia Bulldogs.

However, with several years before even suiting up in a college uniform, Texas is making a strong impression on Lawrence.
