A player that Notre Dame has quickly made a priority in the 2025 recruiting class is Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Prep cornerback Cree Thomas. If that school sounds familiar, it is the same high school of current Irish All-American Benjamin Morrison.

Thomas’ recruitment has begun to really heat up over the last couple of months. The process has been a blessing to Thomas so far, who is just excited to continue to get to know these schools.

"Recruitment has been going super well for me,” Thomas explained. "I’m extremely blessed and thankful for all the offers that I have received during this offseason. I am extremely excited to see where I end up committing to play college football.

"As of right now I have been hitting summer hard with my team and there are no set dates or locked in visits yet but I want to try and see some schools by the end of summer for sure,” he added.

Even with so much interest, Notre Dame is still a team that is clearly standing out for the talented cornerback.

"All coaches who have been active in my recruitment have been really cool and I'm thankful for the relationships they’ve built with me,” said Thomas. "The most recent offers I've picked up since my visit to Notre Dame are Wisconsin, Boston College and San Diego State University. Notre Dame is doing a tremendous job selling me their vision.”

A big reason for that buzz on Notre Dame is the coaching staff. Thomas has no question about whether the program wants him or not.

"The relationships I've built with the entire staff at Notre Dame have been great and they are only getting stronger as time goes by. Recent commits like Kennedy Urlacher, who I played 7-on-7 with this off-season, it also helps to raise my interest in Notre Dame. The incredible love Coach (Mike) Mickens and other Notre Dame coaches have shown me so far in my recruitment will be a huge factor when I decide where I will be playing college football.”

In the end, neither Morrison nor Urlacher is going to be the reason Thomas goes to Notre Dame, should that happen. It’s going to be because he believes in the Irish staff and the player they can help him become.

"As a player I want to be able to make a strong impact wherever I go,” said Thomas. "I know that the great coaches at Notre Dame can develop me into the l player I want to be and it will definitely be one of my top schools as my commitment date gets closer.”

The Arizona native has quickly attracted the attention of several prominent PAC 12 schools, including holding offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona and Cal. Thomas also holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Wisconsin and Purdue among others.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback is coming off of an outstanding sophomore campaign for Brophy College Prep. Thomas locked down one of the cornerback positions, finishing the season with 33 total tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. He also added in 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack, while also being the team’s main kick and punt returner.
