Notre Dame is four days away from kicking off their 2025 season on the road against the Miami Hurricanes. Today, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, defensive coordinator Chris Ash and a handful of offensive and defensive players stepped up to the podium after practice to talk the seasoner opener against the 10th-ranked Hurricanes, progress in the offseason and goals for the season. This is also the first time we've heard from redshirt freshman CJ Carr since he's been named the starter.

Here are some of the main quotes from today's press conference:
"I just want to see them play really hard," Ash said about the defense. "The effort has to come through on film. I want to see us be fundamentally sound and situationally aware. I don't want to see us beat ourselves and I want to see us take the ball away. Those are the things we want to see every single Saturday."
"I think they're both really competitive guys," Denbrock explained about Guerby Lambert and Sullivan Absher. "Both have shown the ability to start at right guard and do some really positive things. They create space and movement up front in the run game and they have both came along way in their pass protection. It's something we're going to get sorted out in the next day or so."
"It means everything," Carr said. "This is what you worked for your whole life. I was talking to my dad earlier and talked about if I would have told you back in middle school or high school that you'd be at the University of Notre Dame competing to be the starting quarterback here you'd be jumping up and down. Actually being here and winning the job is an amazing feeling."
"For us, the way we've talked about it, it's a downhill run game," Bowen explained when asked about Miami's offense. "It starts with their offensive line and for us, we have to set the tone. A big thing for us this week is our ability to stop the run. They want to run the ball down hill; that's something they did all last year. We're going to have to play down hill, meet them at the line of scrimmage and stop the run."
