Notre Dame Drops To No. 9 In The Latest Coaches Poll

Notre Dame dropped their season opener on the road to the Miami Hurricanes Sunday night 27-24 in a highly anticipated Top 10 matchup. Their close loss on the road caused the Irish to fall from No. 5 to No. in the latest Coaches Poll.

The Irish are now the No. 9 ranked team in the coaches poll after losing a close one to the Hurricanes Sunday night. Miami is now the No. 7 ranked team in the Coaches Poll. Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman still find themselves ranked in the Top 10 in the Coaches Poll heading into their first bye week before they take on the No. ranked Texas A&M Aggies on September 13.

There was a lot of movement in the Top 10 teams in the Coaches Poll due to several matchups between top ranked teams. Per the Coaches Poll, No. 1 Texas played No. 2 Ohio State on the road, No. 9 LSU played No. 6 Clemson on the road and No. 5 Notre Dame played No. 10 Miami on the road. No. 8 Alabama also lost their season opener on the road to unranked Florida State 31-17. The Seminoles are now back in the Coaches Poll Top 25 at No. 19 after a head scratching 2024 season after knocking off the Crimson Tide at home.

Clemson fell to No. 8 while LSU climbed up to No. 4 after their road victory Saturday night. Ohio State is now the No. 1 ranked team in the country while Texas fell to No. 6 . Alabama has dropped out of the Top 10 and is now the No. 20 ranked team in the country. The Boise State Broncos have now fallen out of the Coaches Poll Top 25 after a 34-7 blowout loss on the road. Kansas State has also fallen out of the Coaches Poll Top 25 after a week 0 loss to Iowa State and a close home win over North Dakota 38-35.
