Pat McAfee had Shane Gillis on his show this Monday to talk about the national championship game. Unsurprisingly, they talked about Notre Dame for the majority of their time on-air.
Gillis appeared on "College GameDay" during the opening round of the College Football Playoff. He had a tense interaction with Nick Saban because he joked about the former Alabama coach illegally paying his players. This time around, he went viral for ripping former Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly to shreds. It all started with Gillis raving about Marcus Freeman, calling him the "nicest, coolest guy" in college football.
After Gillis raved about Freeman for a few seconds, McAfee brought up Notre Dame's former head coach. That led to a hilarious response from the former "Saturday Night Live" member.
"Yeah, he went to LSU and he’s going to ruin that program," Gillis declared.
Clearly, Gillis isn't a big believer in Kelly.
"I love Marcus Freeman and he's the man..

Kelly coached Notre Dame from 2010-2021. He initially told reporters that he left for LSU so he could "be in an environment where I have the resources to win a national championship."
After Notre Dame made the national title game under Freeman's leadership, Kelly retracted his previous remarks.
"Why do you leave Notre Dame? You leave Notre Dame because you're taking another challenge. I took Notre Dame to championships. It's just the way you want to twist it: 'You only leave Notre Dame to go win a championship.' I wasn't leaving Notre Dame because I couldn't win a championship," Kelly said. "You can win championships at Notre Dame, but I chose another path because I wanted a different challenge."
Despite all the things that have been said about Kelly's departure, he claims he'll be rooting for the Fighting Irish tonight.
"I'm happy for all those guys, I pull for them," Kelly told CBS Sports. "A lot of the guys there that are on both sides of the ball, I recruited. Obviously I want to see those guys win it all, and I think they're in a great position. Totally excited for those guys."
Kelly might be rooting for Notre Dame tonight, but it's safe to say Gillis will never root for him.
