Notre Dame football received a massive commitment in the 2027 recruiting class from elite Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb quarterback Teddy Jarrard on Thursday. Getting this caliber of signal caller early in a class is extremely important, and now allows the Fighting Irish staff to build around Jarrard.

Very shortly after the Jarrard news, Notre Dame received another prediction for an extremely talented 2027 defender, this time right from their backyard. Rivals vice president of recruiting Steve Wiltfong has put in an RPM insider prediction for the Fighting Irish to land Indianapolis (Ind.) Franklin Central defensive end Jayce Brewer.

Brewer is rated as a four-star player on the 247Sports Composite ranking currently. On that rating, he currently sits as the No. 229 overall player, No. 26 EDGE, and No. 3 player from the state of Indiana for the 2027 recruiting class. If Notre Dame does push hard for Brewer, it’s important to keep top talent they want at home.

The 6-5, 240-pound pass rusher has garnered the interest of a long list of impressive suitors so far. Some of his top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Michigan, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Arizona State, Iowa, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Louisville, Michigan State, Illinois, Maryland, Indiana, Boston College, and Purdue amongst many others.

As a sophomore, the production for Brewer wasn’t great. He finished the year with 38 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, and an interception. Brewer is expected to take a monster jump as a junior, and his athletic skill set would definitely point toward that ascension.

Notre Dame has been recruiting the defensive end position at an extremely high level over the last couple of recruiting classes. Entering the 2026 season, they could have a group that includes the likes of Bryce Young, Boubacar Traore, Rodney Dunham, and Ebenezer Ewetade among others. With players like Brewer in the 2027 class, that talent pool most likely isn’t drying up anytime soon.

We will see if the Fighting Irish do indeed close on Brewer, and keep him at home. If they do, it would be another toolsy defensive lineman for Al Washington to work with. The talent, although a bit raw, is unquestionable.
