Head coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame football is riding a strong wave of recruiting momentum, and things aren’t slowing down anytime soon. It was an incredible month of June for the 2026 recruiting class. So far, Coach Freeman has managed to bat .1000 on top targets down the stretch.

The Fighting Irish program was rewarded for their recruiting efforts, and were featured on a list compiled by Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Gorney for the top commitments in June. Notre Dame wasn’t just included once, but twice. Along with Alabama, they were the only school that appeared twice on the list.

The two players mentioned on the list was five-star Glenside (Pa.) La Salle College athlete Joey O’Brien and Great Bend (Kansas) High School tight end Ian Premer. Both players were massive victories for the Fighting Irish for a variety of reasons. The craziest part about the list is that the addition of Khary Adams could have been mentioned as well. The Maryland native is currently rated as the No. 36 overall player by 247Sports.

When it comes to O’Brien, Notre Dame got on him earlier than just about anyone. They were able to beat out Oregon, Penn State, and Clemson in the end. The 6-4, 190-pound athlete has the combination of size, length, and movement skills to play safety, cornerback, or wide receiver on the next level.

The Premer pickup was a tremendous victory for Notre Dame because many didn’t see it coming, especially this quickly. The 6-5, 230-pound pass catcher was seriously considering Iowa State and Kansas State. The Fighting Irish were able to get Premer to leave close to home, and join one of the finest developers of talent at the tight end position.

It’ll be interesting to see if Notre Dame ends up on the July list as well with so many top targets remaining on the board. That includes Aledo (Texas) High School pass catcher Kaydon Finley and Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney defensive lineman Elijah Golden. Both players are borderline top 100 players by multiple platforms. The Fighting Irish are continuing to impress high school recruits, particularly in the 2026 class.
