Notre Dame Gets More Good News Days After Orange Bowl Win
Amber Searls, USA TODAY Sports

The No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish are preparing for the College Football Playoff national title game against No. 8 Ohio State.

Notre Dame defeated No. 6 Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Thursday, and the momentum around South Bend is picking up quickly.

Since the win, Notre Dame added three players in the transfer portal: USC defensive tackle Elijah Hughes, Louisville DT Jared Dawson, and North Carolina kicker Noah Burnette.

On Sunday, Notre Dame got more good news with the addition of Virginia Tech safety Jalen Stroman, per Kyle Kelly of BGI News.

Stroman chose Notre Dame over Boise State, LSU, USC and Michigan.

Stroman has 111 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles in his career with Virginia Tech, but he played just one game in 2024 after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in the opener against Vanderbilt.

Stroman was a three-star recruit coming into college, per On3, and he had offers from Virginia, Indiana and Duke.

In December, Notre Dame also added Arkansas tight end Ty Washington, Wisconsin wide receiver Will Pauling, Virginia WR Malachi Fields, and Alabama cornerback Devonta Smith.

Now, they added a fourth player in the last two days as the Irish are one win away from the national title.
