Notre Dame is now 7 days away from kicking off the 2025 season against the Miami Hurricanes down in Hard Rock Stadium. The Irish will be relying on some impact players to get them through the home opener as well as getting them back to another run at the National Championship. I broke down who I believe will be the top 50 impactful players for Notre Dame this season. Let’s continue this countdown to kickoff with my No. 7 most impactful player, junior wide receiver Jaden Greathouse.

The receiving corps at Notre Dame will have to take a jump this season if the Irish wish to make another run at a national title. They brought in transfers Malachi Fields and Will Pauling, but Greathouse going into his junior season may be the key to unlocking the true potential for Mike Brown's unit. Greathouse came onto the scene late last season, and the Texas native will be looking to build on his post season performance in 2025.

What He Brings To The Table

It's hard to imagine a player ending the season on a higher note than Greathouse did in 2024. In the College Football Playoff Semifinals, he hauled in seven passes for 105 yards, averaged 15.0 yards per catch and a touchdown in the fourth quarter. He followed up that performance with a six reception, 128 yard and two touchdown night against Ohio State in the National Championship. Greathouse's performance on January 20 helped fuel the comeback the eventually fell short.

Greathouse is one of the most reliable receivers in the country. In his two completed seasons in South Bend, he's been targeted 80 times. In those 80 targets, he's only recorded on drop. He was a go-to guy in clutch situations last season. Out of his 42 receptions from a season ago, 25 of them went for first downs with 10 of them coming in the post season. Greathouse won 11 of his 13 contested catch targets and six of them also came in the post season. He does his best work from the slot and is a matchup nightmare against nickel corners, linebackers and safeties.

What Is His Impact?

A "home grown" receiver has yet to finish a season with over 600 yards since Kevin Austin did it back in 2021. Greathouse was eight yards shy of reaching that mark and that was with having seven games with just one reception. His level of play will have to get more consistent, but the change in style of quarterback with CJ Carr taking over will help that greatly. Greathouse is also one of the vocal leaders in the receiver room and on offense. He's now aided by the experience of Fields and Pauling, but Greathouse is still one of the key figures on that side of the ball.

It's been quite some time since Notre Dame has had a legitimate one-two punch at the wide receiver position; they have that this year. Greathouse and Fields have the potential to be a dynamic duo at the receiver position and Greathouse will have to do his part for that to come true. The 6-1, 215-pound Austin, Texas native is on the verge of a massive breakout this year. His skillset, impact to the offense and overall ceiling is what makes Greathouse my No. 7 overall impact player for Notre Dame in 2025.
