Notre Dame is now 8 days away from kicking off the 2025 season against the Miami Hurricanes down in Hard Rock Stadium. The Irish will be relying on some impact players to get them through the home opener as well as getting them back to another run at the National Championship. I broke down who I believe will be the top 50 impactful players for Notre Dame this season. Let’s continue this countdown to kickoff with my No. 8 most impactful player, redshirt junior running back Jadarian Price .
The running back room has been a staple of the Notre Dame offense over the last decade. Recently, the Irish have been utilizing two or more backs over the course of the season, and with the expanded playoffs, the benefit is higher than ever. Last season, the running back room in South Bend ranked amongst one of the best and most explosive in the cou ntry. This season, Price will be relied on heavily, along with Jeremiyah Love , to kick this offense into high gear in 2025.
Price was one of the more explosive running backs in the country in 2024. He ended the season averaging 6.2 yards per carry, but was averaging 7.2 yards per carry heading into the post season. He finished the year with 746 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns and that was with Love going for 1,125 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Riley Leonard also accounted for 906 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Price may have the best lateral quickness of any running back in Ja'Juan Seider's room and has top-end breakaway speed to boot.
He scored the first rushing touchdown of the season against Texas A&M when he took it 47 yards to the house. Price also housed a 70 yard touchdown run to end the first half against Purdue. The 5-11, 210-pound Texas native also rushed f or 111 yards and a touchdown in the second half against USC on the road and also recorded a 65 yard touchdown run against Florida State. His pass protection will have to take a jump, but his big play ability is undeniable.
Last season, the Love and Price duo was borderline unstoppable and are a nightmare to gameplan for. Love is the best returning running back in the country, but last season, we saw how productive Price could be when he's the No. 1 guy, and it didn't disappoint. Love went down with an injury on the first drive of the third quarter. Price stepped up as the go-to guy for the remainder of the game. The Texas native finished the rivalry game with 12 carries for 111 yards, averaged 9.3 yards a carry and rattled off a 36 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter.
Price is heading into, what will likely be, his final season in South Bend. His work load this season is projected to be higher than what it was last year; Leonard recorded 180 rushing attempts last season and that number will have to be distributed amongst the backs. There's a good chanc e Price could end the season as an 1,000 yard running back alongside Love. His homerun hitting ability, top end speed and role in the running back rotation makes Price my No. 8 overall impact player for Notre Dame in 2025.
