Notre Dame is fighting for a national championship right now in the 12-team College Football Playoff, but the Fighting Irish of 2025 just got a whole lot better thanks to a big addition via the transfer portal.
Malachi Fields has spent the past four seasons at Virginia, where he's been an integral part of the Cavaliers' offensive attack. He entered the transfer portal to find a home for his fifth and final year of college football eligibility. His decision came down to Notre Dame and Penn State.
On Monday, it was revealed that the Irish won out, and they'll be the recipient of Fields' experience and skill in 2025.

In Fields, Notre Dame will be getting an experienced and productive playmaker. He notched 58 catches for 811 yards and five touchdowns in 2023 for Virginia and followed that up with 55 catches for 808 yards and five touchdowns this season. He's thought of as a big-time athlete who can make big plays downfield.
