Year over year, there's a handful of players that receive a lot of attention after Notre Dame's Blue Gold game. Outside of the quarterback competition, there were a few players who stuck out and had big performances this past Saturday. Tight end Eli Raridon and safety Luke Talich were two players who showed some flashes and made big plays this past Saturday. Raridon showcased his ability after the catch while Talich displayed why he is well in the mix, competing for the starting safety role alongside Adon Shuler. Both players spoke with the media after Saturday's scrimmage and broke down their performances and the spring as a whole.

Here are some of their comments from Saturday's press conference:
"It feels a lot different," Raridon explained. "It feels ancient to me being healthy and being under an offense that I've been comfortable with. I've been playing with a lot of confidence and a free mind and that feels really good. The offense isn't really any different, but I feel really comfortable and confident with where I'm at. It's a good feeling playing fast and free and not having to worry about a ton of stuff while I'm out there."
"It's been cool to see all the young guys and all the freshman," Raridon said about the offensive line room. "They're doing a good job, they're physical guys and have good mindsets. Sullivan Absher, someone we talked about earlier, is playing everywhere. We're low on bodies but they're doing a good job filling into some roles they haven't really played before. They're doing a good job this spring."
"It makes all of us better," Talich stated. "I don't think any of us are worrying about who's going to start or anything right now. We're all focusing on getting better right now, owning what we can and taking advantage of our opportunities.
I don't know how these next three practices are going to go. Coach Freeman joked about how we were going to get our work in. I'm sure we're going to get after it still. I don't know how much thumping and tackling we're going to be doing, but he's going to challenge us mentally with two minute drill and things like that. I think we'll be focusing on getting better and taking advantage of those three extra practices because that will carry over into the summer and into the fall."
"I think all of us have gotten a lot more familiar with his style and his style of coaching," Talich said about first year defensive coordinator. "It's a little bit different from Coach Golden. It's good in it's own way and he's going to push you every single day. He's going to get after you. I feel very confident in his ability."
