The Notre Dame football program is recruiting as well as they have in recent memory under head coach Marcus Freeman. They are attracting talent from all over, and all of a sudden, this has become an incredibly deep football team. That is the biggest difference we have seen under Coach Freeman.
Two positions that still need to take a step forward are at defensive tackle and wide receiver on the recruiting trail. For the former, defensive line coach Al Washington and the Fighting Irish are already busy in the 2027 recruiting class pushing for some extremely talented defenders. That includes Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove defensive tackle Deven Robertson.
For the second time since being offered back during the Pot of Gold on St. Patrick’s Day, Robertson is back in South Bend. Making the trip from Mississippi up to Notre Dame isn’t an easy one, but Robertson has made it a priority to do so.

Robertson is undervalued by some of the major recruiting platforms, but is still rated as a four-star player on the On3 Industry ranking. That ranking currently has the Mississippi standout rated as the No. 309 overall player, No. 31 defensive lineman, and No. 9 player from the state of Mississippi in the 2027 recruiting class.
Despite some modest rankings, Robertson has received a ton of interest from a long list of notable programs. Some of his top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Oregon State among several others.
At 6-3 and 310 pounds, Robertson is an incredibly powerful interior defensive lineman with a ton of upside to continue tapping into. Notre Dame is putting themselves in a very good spot for the Mississippi native early on, and will continue to push hard. Things are moving fast, and Robertson is definitely a player to keep a close eye on.
