The Ohio State Buckeyes currently hold the No. 3-ranked recruiting class for 2026, according to 247Sports. With 13 commitments already in place, the Buckeyes have yet to land a player at the most important position in football: quarterback.
Recruiting the quarterback spot has been an intriguing process for Ohio State in the 2026 cycle. Most of the top quarterbacks are already committed elsewhere, and the Buckeyes have missed out on several targets.
After landing five-star Tavien St. Clair in the 2025 class, he’s expected to sit for at least a year behind sophomore Julian Sayin. Any high-profile quarterback coming in knows they’ll likely be more than a season away from seeing the field.
Still, Ohio State has emerged as a potential landing spot for a rising four-star quarterback—if they decide to ramp up their pursuit. According to On3, the Buckeyes will host Mission Viejo (CA) four-star QB Luke Fahey for an official visit on June 20. While Fahey has yet to receive an offer from Ohio State, that could change very soon.

Fahey told On3 that Ohio State is a “dream school,” and the Buckeyes could become the favorite to land the California quarterback if they extend an offer. He is ranked as the No. 23 quarterback and No. 355 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Stanford, Indiana, Oklahoma State, and Auburn are among the schools that have already offered Fahey. The talented signal-caller emerged on the recruiting radar with a strong sophomore campaign, throwing 26 touchdown passes to just six interceptions. Last season, he followed that up with 17 touchdown passes and zero interceptions.
This will be a recruitment to watch closely—and Fahey could very well end up being the quarterback Ohio State lands in the 2026 class.
