The Ohio State Buckeyes have reason to celebrate the Fourth of July a bit early, thanks to some exciting news they received just a day prior.

Ohio State entered Thursday with 19 players committed to the class of 2026, following a highly productive month of June. Now, the Buckeyes are starting July just as they ended June—hot on the recruiting trail.

It took some time, but Ohio State has finally landed its quarterback for the class of 2026.

Four-star QB Luke Fahey commits to Ohio State over Indiana and Stanford

The commitment had been trending in Ohio State’s favor ever since the Buckeyes offered Fahey a scholarship on June 22. Now it’s official—Mission Viejo (CA) quarterback Luke Fahey has verbally committed to the Buckeyes, choosing them over Indiana and Stanford.

At one point, it looked like Ohio State might not take a quarterback in this class. The Buckeyes hadn’t heavily recruited the top prospects at the position—and for good reason. Tavien St. Clair, a former five-star recruit, is unlikely to play this season as a true freshman, and Julian Sayin is expected to start as a true sophomore. With a strong quarterback room already in place, the Buckeyes could afford to be selective.

Fahey is ranked as the No. 356 overall player and the No. 24 quarterback in the class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s considered undersized at 6 feet, 185 pounds, but Ohio State loves his competitive edge and high football IQ.

With Fahey’s commitment, Ohio State now has 20 pledges in the 2026 class. Adding a quarterback checks off an important box the coaching staff had been working to fill.
