The Ohio State Buckeyes don’t play a game today and it’ll be their first week off of the season after a 3-0 start. Ohio State was tested out of the gates by the Texas Longhorns, but has run past Grambling State and the Ohio Bobcats in the last two games. After this week off, the Buckeyes will make a long trip out west to play the Washington Huskies in their first Big Ten game of the season. With the week off, it gives the Buckeyes a chance to do some extra recruiting and to hit the road.
According to Lettermen Row, Ohio State paid a visit to four-star TE Mack Sutter earlier in the week, who is one of the top tight ends in the class of 2026 and has been committed to Alabama since the end of June. Sutter is from Illinois and that is where tight ends coach Keenan Bailey spent some time this past week. Ohio State has one tight end committed with Corbyn Fordham, but adding Sutter would be a big addition. Of course, making a flip with an Alabama commitment is easier said than done.

Sutter is ranked as the No. 6 tight end in the country and No. 90 overall player, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end is the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois and the Huckeyes were high up in his recruitment before he committed to Alabama. Ohio State has Max Klare as their top tight end currently and he’s going to be off to the NFL after this season. Will Kacmarek is in his final season at Ohio State as well, so the Buckeyes will be losing a minimum of two tight ends from this year's team.
Recruiting has been quite interesting for the Buckeyes this cycle. They have the No. 9-ranked class, per 247 Sports, with their 21 players who they have committed already. Ohio State has played it close this cycle with the changes that are coming around revenue sharing and NIL. Now that football season is here, the Buckeyes are circling back on a number of recruits whom they would still like to add to this class. Sutter fits right in there for the Buckeyes.
