NFL mock drafts are dominating the internet and sports media space right now as we close in on two weeks remaining before the offseason's key event is underway. Former ESPN and current The Ringer draft analyst Todd McShay has the cache and respect of the industry, so his third installment of his mock draft series was bound to catch eyes.
McShay's latest 2025 NFL mock draft got wild as he included several trades, a Jaxson Dart-over-Shedeur Sanders decision that made no sense, and several picks that simply seemingly ignored team needs and tendencies.
It's not that McShay will be wrong or he's not projecting better picks than what will actually happen, but he strayed far from a lot of norms most have adopted. It was surprising.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been projected to produce as many as 15 drafted players in this class. They should tie Georgia's all-time record for the most players selected in one draft.
But to get there, they'll need a player or three taken night one. Shockingly, McShay did not predict a single Buckeye to be taken in Round 1.
That means Emeka Egbuka and Josh Simmons, the team's two most likely first-rounders, fell into Day 2. TreVeyon Henderson, Tyliek Williams, and Donovan Jackson also went from possible but unlikely first rounders to Friday night options.
This outcome wouldn't mean Ohio State couldn't still get 15 names called, as a flurry of Buckeyes are expected to go between Round 2 and Round 4 anyway. That includes surprising riser Ty Hamilton.
But it would be unusual to tie such an impressive record without an elite talent taken high. After all, this was the National Championship winning roster, and one that won quite comfortably when it came down to it.
