Ohio State DB Transfer Lands on West Virginia's Radar
USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Martinez became one of many defensive back transfers to receive an offer from West Virginia on Monday, the day the transfer portal officially opened.

The former Ohio State safety was a highly touted recruit out of Muskegon High School in Michigan, rated as a four-star talent by multiple recruiting outlets. He held offers from seemingly every Big Ten and ACC school and was also offered by WVU.

Martinez saw a lot of action as a redshirt freshman totaling 21 tackles, four pass breakups, and an interception. Over the last two seasons, unfortunately, he's dealt with a handful of injuries which have limited his contributions to just 17 tackles in 16 games.

Despite that, Martinez is becoming a hot name in the portal thus far, holding offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida, Texas, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Western Michigan, and a few others in addition to West Virginia. Many more are expected to enter the mix over the next 48 hours.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
