The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a remarkable run in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, entering as the No. 8 seed and winning four straight games by double digits. Their path to the national championship included impressive victories over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and ultimately Notre Dame in the title game.

The victory marked Ohio State’s first national championship since 2014 and the first under head coach Ryan Day—an especially meaningful moment given that it came just weeks after another disappointing loss to Michigan, which had many fans in Columbus calling for a change at the helm.

Day, however, rallied the Buckeyes to a historic postseason, and now Ohio State is looking to carry that momentum into the 2025 season in hopes of a back-to-back title run.

Ahead of the upcoming season, Ohio State made a major announcement on Friday and followed it up with a behind-the-scenes reveal on Saturday: Head coach Ryan Day will be featured in “EA Sports College Football 26.”

“Something special to be a part of,” Ohio State posted on social media, sharing an image of Day alongside star safety Caleb Downs.

Day’s star wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, is set to be featured on the cover of EA Sports College Football 26, alongside Alabama sophomore wideout Ryan Williams. The cover was officially unveiled last week, building anticipation for the game’s release, which is scheduled for July 10.

Before the return of College Football 25 last year, the last NCAA football video game to hit the market was NCAA 14, released in July 2013.

After that, the franchise was discontinued due to legal issues surrounding player likeness rights. However, with the emergence of NIL rules and the rapidly evolving landscape of college athletics, the series made a highly successful comeback.

College Football 25 became one of the most popular releases of 2024, even surpassing NBA 2K21 to become the highest-selling sports video game in the United States.
