Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis wants to return to Buckeyes after opting out

On the same day that Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" that he's not sure if he'll opt back in for a 2020 fall Big Ten football season, teammate and Buckeyes guard Wyatt Davis took to Twitter to declare his desire to play for OSU.

Both Wade and Davis opted out at a time when Big Ten programs were idle due to the conference's Aug. 11 announcement to postpone football and other fall sports because of the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier on Wednesday, the Big Ten officially reversed that decision and set Oct. 23-24 as the league's opening weekend for football.

As Harry Lyles Jr. and Tom VanHaaren of ESPN explained, it's unknown if Davis signed an agreement with an agent after he opted out. The NCAA does offer a student-athlete reinstatement process for players who experience changes of heart.

Ryan Wilson, Chris Trapasso, and Josh Edwards of CBS Sports have Davis and Wade both listed as first-round picks in their updated 2021 NFL mock drafts. As of Sept. 16, Walter Football projected that Davis will be a late first-round selection.
