Coming off an incredible four-catch, 135-yard, and two-touchdown performance against St. Thomas Aquinas, five-star receiving prospect Chris Henry Jr. set the bar even higher than what expectations were entering the season. His Mater Dei (CA) high school took the victory this past weekend, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were left with a dropped jaw.
Henry's highlights were insane, and the Buckeyes will be getting another receiving phenom soon. Following talent like Jeremiah Smith, Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and countless others isn't easy. But the 21st-overall player is in line to do it, barring a change before signing day.
Even with Oregon and Texas still pushing to flip him, Henry said he's not eyeing anywhere else as long as Brian Hartline is in Columbus. “They are still hitting me up, but I’m at Ohio State,” he said after the game.
“It’s been great since I got the offer. Ain’t nothing changed,” Henry said. “I still have a great relationship with Coach Hartline and Coach Day. I’m just blessed....“I felt great about my performance,” Henry told Rivals Marcus Benjamin following the win. “As far as my rehab, I just kept my head down and trusted in God. That’s all, it was just leaning on God.”
A knee injury ended Henry's season early last year, but the 6-foot-5 star is just getting his senior year off the ground. He'll be in Columbus this coming weekend when Texas tries to avenge its College Football Playoff loss to Ohio State.
